The great Alfred Hitchcock (1899 – 1980), director and film maker, was nicknamed ‘The master of suspense’. By adding a psychological twist to his films he had his audience sitting on the edge of their seats.
Throughout his career he made some 55 classic films and appeared as a cameo in at least 40 of these. I had forgotten how gripping his film ‘Vertigo’ (1959) was until I watched it again recently. Alongside his other popular films Rear Window (1954), North by Northwest (1959) and Psycho (1960) Hitchcock’s collection of films make for an amazing evenings viewing.
